Storing objects takes up a lot of space around the house. In the basement, in the attic, in the garage, in the tool shed, the kitchen cabinets, cupboards, and almost every piece of furniture or fixture you have around the house is used as a storage space for another object. These storage areas may be made of wood, metal, or a combination of materials, but all must necessarily be strong enough to withstand the weight of the objects placed inside them or on their top, and must also be efficient in terms of the utilization of space, covering minimal floor area.
A much better option than using traditional wooden shelves or metal (steel or aluminum) trunks is making use of plastic storage crates. These storage boxes come in various shapes and sizes to fit almost any space you have in a nook or corner of your room.
Much cheaper than other forms of storage, plastic storage crates are usually disposable after several months of use, but that does not mean you have to do away with them after that time. You can continue to recycle your storage crate for multiple purposes.
Plastic storage crates are water proof, and, if they come with air tight lids, can be quite effective as containers for food like biscuits and rusk that go damp or soft within a few hours of opening the wrapper. They also protect the food by keeping ants and flies out! They are also great for storing clothes that are out of season. Instead of hanging such clothes in the closet or cupboard, you can stuff them into a neat pile inside the plastic crate and keep the crate away for the next season. This would reduce clutter in your room and closet. The same goes for objects you have no real use of every day but still do not want to discard, like a wedding album, or school yearbooks.
Plastic storage crates can be used as a temporary form of storage, as well as for a cheaper and easier alternative to general permanent storage needs, for example in the garage as a tool rack, and in the office as a small filing cabinet.
Small sized plastic storage crates can be used for storing tools, cutlery, stationery, and cosmetics. Medium sized crates are utilized for utensils, clothes, and books, depending on their width and depth. Larger sized crates are usually used industrially for storing solid and liquid raw materials and industrial equipment.
Strong and reliable, made of heavy grade industrial plastic, plastic storage crates are easily stackable one on top of the other, an attribute that enable them to be used on a large scale for industrial packaging and transportation. A smaller base and a tapering larger mouth on some crates means that, when empty, one crate can be nested inside another crate, and so even storing empty crates would be more efficient in saving space than traditional storage boxes.
Plastic crates come in a variety of colors. Those used to store food are usually translucent, but crates for storing clothes, accessories and books may be chosen from an assortment of available model colors. Industrially, color coding is used to differentiate plastic crates that are employed in separate uses.
